FOILFLEX PRODUCTS INC Types of Holography < < back to Holgraphic Solutions
The main types of holograms used in packaging today include:

Wallpaper, a uniform repeating pattern used as a background effect.

Dot matrix holograms use a series of holographic surface dots or pixels. Client- supplied designs created in Photoshop, Freehand or Illustrator can be used.

2-D/3-D holograms use flat graphics, line art or photographs. Dimensionality is added by placing the images on different planes behind or in front of each other. Artwork is normally designed with different levels in mind. 3-D holograms can use models, sculpted from clay, plaster, hard polymers or made from metal

Stereograms are made using video cameras to pan past an object and takes up to 500 sequential frames. The final hologram shows the object from numerous, slightly different angles at the same time, creating a 3-D effect.
